If you’re keen to play the metaphorical sponge in a large pitcher of booze knowledge, congrats, you’ve definitely come to the right place. Having an array of podcasts to listen through are perfect if you’re a busy bartender on the move. So, without further ado, here are the 5 best podcasts to get your ears to if you’re a bartender who’s thirsty for knowledge.

The Mixology Talk Podcast

If you’re wanting to teach an old dog (you, sans the old) new tricks, this is just the podcast to achieve that. It focuses on giving techniques and tips you can add to your repertoire, all while throwing in a stellar interview with an industry great. The podcast was created by the founders of ‘A Bar Above’, Chris and Julia Tunstall, in the hopes that it would help bartenders polish their passion. You’ll get to dust up on eclectic topics revolving around the history and culture of alcohol. Not to mention our favourite pastime; bitters, spirits and all the bits and bobs that go with it.

Bartender Journey

Want to get to know the inner workings of your business and the glorious liquids that reside inside? Well the Bartender Journey podcast is your one stop shop for all the goods like bar operations, liquor brands and cocktail wisdom. Brian Weber, host and bartending guru talks you through the facets that forge a well-oiled bar. He achieves the goal of sharing his life’s knowledge through harnessing some of the greatest ‘bar-trained’ brains of bar-owners, authors, distillers, and brand ambassadors. There’s definitely more where that came from, so you’ll never be short of new content to guzzle down.

Speaking Easy Podcast

The Speaking Easy Podcast has a bit of a twist to it, but we all know we’re fans of a good old twist here. Hosts Alex and Jordan take on the role of ‘outsiders’ to the bar industry, admitting that they’re not experts, nor bartenders. But you can be sure that what drives this podcast is their passion for the effort, technique, history and hospitality that goes into truly setting a bar apart from the rest. The young cocktail enthusiasts share their first-hand knowledge on what millennials and Generation Z are really after when they enter your establishment. They even give you a sneaky insight about why millennials have so much knowledge about everything of a boozy nature.

At The Bar

Mike and Jeff never shy away from instilling a bit of creative and humorous flair when hosting their podcast episodes, having an eclectic mix of topics to have a chat and laugh over. ‘What Your Drink Says About You’, ‘Craft Beer Mediocrity’, and ‘Jeff’s Drunk Movie Reviews’? If that’s not enough to make you whip out your phones and hit the download button, who knows what is. They also make an effort to highlight particular breweries and events hosted within the industry. This is the ideal podcast if you love to ingest knowledge through cheeky humour.

Bartender At Large

Bartender At Large has a massive focus on cocktails made around the globe, and all the fancy pants aspects that encompass it. There’s also a particular focus (this is the cool part) on the bartenders who commit their life to making them. Erick Castro, host and bar cornerstone has spent his career scouring for obscure drink recipes. He also provides a wealth of knowledge regarding ingredients dating back to prohibition, and the unique methods of drink making. Having a listen to one of the industry’s big dogs is something you’ll definitely benefit from.
